AMD will allegedly release their next line of processors within the next few months, they will feature an 8-core architecture which should not be confused with the Intel 8 thread CPU’s. Intel achieve 8 threads by means of running 2 threads per core, which virtualises a quad core to show 8 cores (or 6 cores to 12 cores for the Extreme series..).

AMD’s 8 core will be a true 8 core CPU and although AMD has its 12 core Opterons with 24 threads,  They are not designed for gaming and they are ridiculously expensive..

These new CPU’s are codenamed “Bulldozer” and will be a Global Founderies product measuring in at a nice 32nm fabrication process so it’s not too out of date like the rest of the AMD’s “backward compatible” CPU’s.

The Bulldozer series may be a server or desktop processor, (Leaked information can be quite vague). However despite that, It’s a new line of CPU’s, so they will have a range of CPU’s based on it.

AMD Radeon HD 6990
AMD have release another monster into the wild, the AMD HD 6990, They are confident enough to call this the worlds most powerful graphics card, and they have good reason to say that, This 5.1 TFLOPs Duel GPU 4GB card is nearly double the speed of their flagship HD 6970 card. This card was designed to replace the HD5970 (despite its model number) and that card was also in its time made to be the fastest in the world.. If you want detailed specs, you can check out AMD’s Website

ATI is no more

I know they did this a while ago, but ATI is now gone, to be renamed to the owner AMD, it is quite sad considering in my personal opinion ATI just sounds better, I find that AMD 6870 just doesn’t sound right, it sounds dull and lifeless. Still, I’m more oreintated toward ATI AMD than the green NVidia Company.
