AMD will allegedly release their next line of processors within the next few months, they will feature an 8-core architecture which should not be confused with the Intel 8 thread CPU’s. Intel achieve 8 threads by means of running 2 threads per core, which virtualises a quad core to show 8 cores (or 6 cores to 12 cores for the Extreme series..).

AMD’s 8 core will be a true 8 core CPU and although AMD has its 12 core Opterons with 24 threads,  They are not designed for gaming and they are ridiculously expensive..

These new CPU’s are codenamed “Bulldozer” and will be a Global Founderies product measuring in at a nice 32nm fabrication process so it’s not too out of date like the rest of the AMD’s “backward compatible” CPU’s.

The Bulldozer series may be a server or desktop processor, (Leaked information can be quite vague). However despite that, It’s a new line of CPU’s, so they will have a range of CPU’s based on it.

  3. Actually it doesn’t, AMD’s fabrication will provide better performance in general tasks as well as in gaming while the Intel CPU will basically crunch numbers.
